Installing Real Player

    Windows
  1. Follow this link to download Real Player for windows.
  2. A new window appears. Click any icon under the 'Download' column of the table in the middle.
  3. Click 'Run' to start downloading.
  4. After download is complete click 'Run' again if installation doesn't start automatically.
  5. Click 'Accept' if you agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. It asks you what your connection speed is. Tick 'DSL / Cable (512Kbps)' if you are on broadband. Otherwise choose '56Kbps'.
  7. Click 'Next'.
  8. Under 'Desktop Settings' untick all the checkboxes to save memory.
  9. Click 'Next', this will complete the installation.
  10. You are then presented with 2 options. Tick the bottom option 'Select Media types for real player from list'.
  11. Click 'Next'.
  12. Click 'Finish'
  13. It then gives you the opportunity to register. Click 'Cancel' unless you want to register.
  14. Click 'Exit'. This will load the introduction to Real Player.
  15. Disable Advertising
    On the Real Player interface, click 'tools' (top right), scroll down to preferences, change 'Real Guide' to 'Player only (no media), click 'OK'. Then close all Real Player windows.
  16. And that's it! You can now start listening to live local radio.
    Mac (OS X)
  1. Follow this link to download Real Player for macs.
  2. A new window appears. Click any icon under the 'Download' column of the table in the middle.
  3. Click 'Continue' if you are prompted to do so part way through downloading.
  4. After downloading, a Real Player icon should appear in a new window or on your desktop. Double click this icon.
  5. Click 'Continue' when prompted.
  6. Click 'Continue' again.
  7. Click 'Accept' if you agree to the terms and conditions.
  8. Click 'Done'.
  9. And that's it! You can now start listening to live local radio.

Note: The BBC may prevent users outside the UK from listening to their local radio stations online.
